Your personal information is kept in strict confidence by READ Saint John for the purpose of corresponding with you about READ Saint John business, resources, and events. We value your relationship and will protect your privacy. We collect information about our members, people who volunteer with us, access our tutoring services, and/or donate to us and keep this information in a database.

This is the information we keep in the database:

  • Name

  • Gender

  • Age

  • Mailing address

  • Telephone numbers

  • Fax number

  • Email address

  • Your status within the organization (i.e. tutor, learner, donor, etc.)

  • Status (i.e. active or inactive)


Your name, email address, mailing address, phone number, and any other information we have in our database will not be sold or traded to any other organization.  We are required to provide a limited amount of information to the government of Saint John in order to qualify for funding. At no time is your name or address, phone number, or any other personal identifier given to anyone, including the government. When you joined as a learner you were given the opportunity to opt-out of this process.

We will tell you what information we have about you and we will remove your information from our database if you ask us.

How to find out what information we have about you or your organization or remove your information from the READ Saint John database:

If you want to update the information in your file or tell us to remove your name from certain mailings (such as the newsletter), please contact the head office. We will comply with all requests of this kind.

Please supply a stamped, self-addressed envelope. Allow 30 days for a response.

People who visit our website do not need to reveal any personal information to us. If you voluntarily submit personal information to us, we may collect, maintain and use that information to contact you, including by email. We may contact you for the following reasons:

  1. if you have asked us for information, signed up for a newsletter, etc; or

  2. if you have submitted your name because you want to volunteer,
