R.E.A.D. Saint John

Our History

R.E.A.D. Saint John was established in 1976 as the Saint John Area Literacy Council due to the high rate of illiteracy in the city. In 1988 the council was renamed as READ Saint John to give the public a better understanding of its purpose: "Reading Education for Adult Development". Read Saint John is a council of Laubach Literacy New Brunswick.

Tutors are trained and certified in the Laubach literacy method which was developed to teach adults to read and write based on the "Each One Teach One" method. it permits individual programs to be adapted to each student's personal needs and schedule.
